ONE OF THE MOST MAGICAL MOMENTS IN SOUTH AFRICA WAS DEFINITELY THE ASCENT OF LION'S HEAD. THE WEATHER THAT DAY WAS VERY MIXED AND ALL THE LOCALS ADVISED US NOT TO HIKE IN THOSE CONDITIONS. SINCE WE ARE ADVENTUROUS, THIS WAS PROBABLY AN ARGUMENT FOR HIKING.
I must say that it was really unpleasant in between, because in the middle of our hike we came into a weather front that really had it in itself. The sky contracted, the clouds became darker and darker. Suddenly a wall came at us and had no mercy on us. The strong wind whistled around our ears, raindrops hit our faces as if they were made of stone. Anyone who has climbed Lion's Head knows that there is no place to shelter there. Under our hoods, we peered out of a mini-hole. Bravely we climbed on, hoping that this rain front would stop soon. A short time later we witnessed this incredibly beautiful natural spectacle.
